Mount Mourne Plantation House

A large white, two-story house with black shutters and a dark gray roof. The house has columns at the front porch, and there is a brick staircase leading up to the front door. The yard has well-manicured bushes and trees with fall foliage on some.

Located in Mount Mourne in Iredell County, North Carolina just south of Mooresville off Hwy 115 sits the very well-preserved c.1836 Mount Mourne Plantation House. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, this transitional Federal and Greek Revival style home was built by Major Rufus Reid and named after the dramatic Mount Mourne mountain range in Ireland. The the two-story, five-bay dwelling is situated on just over 3 acres and features a hipped roof entrance portico with four fluted Tuscan order columns.
