HEARTS proudly operates HTHS, North Carolina’s oldest standing store, located in the heart of an 18th-century Scots-Irish settlement in North Mecklenburg.

Cedar Grove, the 1831 James G. Torrance house, is a private residence and National Register historic landmark. This is where the idea for HEARTS was envisioned, and where HEARTS happenings and research continue.

HEARTS is sharing the stories of Sherrill’s Path through a preserved portion of the historic trail in Troutman, North Carolina, that traces the footsteps of bison, Native Americans, and early settlers along an important spur of the Great Wagon Road.
