Dreamlike artworks from a talented musician

Robert Childers

A ghostly figure dressed in white robes with a skull at its base stands in a forested area under a moonlit sky, holding a staff and surrounded by pink flowers and a white rabbit.

Featured on the walls of Cedar Grove’s Center Hallway at HEARTS Winter Wisdom ‘23 on December 9, 2023, were the surreal and dreamlike paintings and artwork by Robert Childers.

Childers was born and raised in Gaston County and his work bears the influence of growing up in an area rich with history.  He takes inspiration from the culture he has grown up in to create art that is both a joyous and a scathing reaction to constantly a changing modern southern landscape.

In addition to participating in the event with his visual art, Childers also joined his brothers’ band, David Childers and the Serpents, as their drummer along with special guest Randolph Lewis on base guitar.

Childers’ integration of nature and history into his inspiring works establishes them as true HEARTS works!

One man is playing an electric guitar, another a double bass, a third man on drums, and a fourth man is playing an acoustic guitar and singing into a microphone. There are audio equipment and microphones set up around them.
