Shakespeare: An Evening of Scenes, Sonnets & Soliloquies

Reception 6:15

Performance 7:30

Shakespeare comes home to Statesville this summer as Theatre Statesville, Iredell County's only live theater for adults since 1958, returns to the Pasture Stage at the historic Sharpe House for a two-night celebration of the Bard's most beloved words. On the evenings of July 24th and 25th at 7:30 PM, Theatre Statesville presents its season’s grand finale, with “Shakespeare: An Evening of Scenes, Sonnets and Soliloquies.”

Before each evening’s performance at 6:15, the Sharpe House is hosting an exclusive ticketed reception in the Main House prior to the evening’s production. A light fare of Elizabethan appetizers and punch will be offered, as well as a tour of the newly redecorated rooms on the first floor. On the tour, guests will learn about the relationship between Shakespeare and the Sharpe House.

Tickets are required for both the reception and/or the performance. This collaboration, made possible through HEARTS, connects regional history, ecology, and arts with ongoing preservation of special places in our region. In 2026, HEARTS has been helping at the Sharpe House, breathing new life into the 1866 home of Statesville’s first mayor, facilitating needed repairs, creating new community programs and opportunities.

This curated evening weaves together sonnets, scenes from Shakespeare’s comedies, tragedies, and histories performed by local actors, and intimate soliloquies that highlight the language. The format honors the roots of both organizations, combining Theatre Statesville's commitment to accessible live performance with HEARTS' dedication to using historic places as living classrooms, continuing the long-standing "Shakespeare in the Pasture" tradition.
