Basketweaving Class: The Gizzard Basket

  • Southeast Mercantile Cooperative 323 North Lee Street Salisbury, NC, 28144 United States (map)

Baskets have been a useful part of the household since before written history. Even into the 20th Century, baskets were used for shopping, harvesting and storing garden produce, and carrying laundry around. Today they are often an admired decorative item about the house. The Gizzard Basket is a workhorse of a little basket and many think it is one of the easiest baskets to make. Two basket weavers (among other skills) recently join the Southeast Mercantile Cooerative and one of them, Connie Deese Christman, will be teaching this workshop.
